Business Cards - Useful or Nah?

Your Marketing Toolbox #2

Are Business Cards Old Fashioned or Underrated?

I know business cards can feel a bit old school, but honestly? I still really rate them.

When I give someone a card, I notice they’re far more likely to get in touch. And when I meet people at events, I always go through the cards I’ve collected afterwards and follow up, it helps me remember who’s who and start building a proper connection.

If you want yours to actually work for you, here are 4 tips to make them stand out:

🔹 Add a photo – It might feel a bit vain, but it’s so helpful when people are trying to remember faces after a busy networking event.

🔹 Be clear about what you do – If your job title isn’t obvious, add a short line explaining how you help people.

🔹 Include a QR code – Make it quick and easy to connect, see your work, or book a call.

🔹 Go for quality – Everything you hand out reflects you. A soft-touch card feels great, and a little spot UV or foil finish can help you look polished and professional.

⭐️ Great Feedback of the Week ⭐️

Sarah Irwin, ITGC

“Working with Lucy on my branding and website has been such a positive experience. She took the time to really understand my brand and the nuances of my business, which made the whole process feel so easy.

Her copywriting is excellent and she turned my thoughts into clear, engaging messaging. She also understood exactly how the website needed to serve both GCs and tech vendors, which was a big priority for me.

I’m so pleased with the result and would absolutely recommend her.”

Fast forward three months, and we finally got a reply… “Hi, sorry, we don’t really check this inbox.” 😬 Ouch. That flyer was delivered at exactly the right time. We were ready to book.
